Building Love on Physical Attraction and Lust

Another unhealthy foundation for building a romantic relationship is physical attraction and lust.

Many relationships today are built only on chemistry. The connection starts from the body, not the mind. Desire speaks before values. Excitement speaks before purpose. Feelings move faster than wisdom. So people fall in love with how someone looks. How they smell. How they touch. How they make them feel. But they never stop to ask who the person truly is.

When attraction leads, discernment follows behind. When lust takes the front seat, character is ignored. And when excitement becomes the foundation, the relationship becomes fragile.

Physical attraction is powerful, but it is not permanent. Beauty fades. Bodies change. Desire fluctuates. Chemistry cools. And when the attraction fades, many discover there is nothing strong enough to hold the relationship together. Lust can start a relationship, but it cannot sustain one. A relationship built on attraction alone will struggle in seasons of pressure, conflict, disappointment, and responsibility. Because attraction does not teach patience. Lust does not build character. Chemistry does not carry commitment.

Love must be deeper than desire. Connection must be stronger than chemistry. Purpose must be greater than passion. Physical attraction is a gift, but it must never be the foundation. It should decorate the relationship, not define it. Because when passion fades, only purpose remains. And when feelings change, only values endure.

Choose with wisdom. Build with depth. Love with intention.
