Building Love in Seasons of Desperation

One other unhealthy season to build a romantic relationship is in a time of desperation. Desperation is that quiet pressure that whispers, you are late. It tells you everyone is moving ahead while you are standing still. It reminds you that others are getting married, engaged, and settled while you are still waiting. It echoes the voices of people who keep asking, “When are you starting to date?” or “When are you getting married?”
Desperation is dangerous because it does not allow you to think clearly. It does not give you the patience to weigh your choices. It rushes your heart into decisions your future will have to live with.
When you are desperate, you do not choose wisely. You choose quickly. You do not discern. You settle. You do not wait for alignment. You grab what is available.
Desperation convinces you that any relationship is better than no relationship. It tells you that being with the wrong person is better than being alone. It pushes you to lower your standards, silence your convictions, and ignore red flags just so you can say you are no longer single.
Many people have entered relationships and marriages out of pressure and panic. They were not led by peace. They were driven by fear. Today, they are eating regret as bread in unions they were never meant to build.
Desperation does not build love. It builds survival partnerships. And survival partnerships collapse when pressure meets reality.
You are not late.
You are not behind.
You are not running out of time.
Life is not a competition. Love is not a race. Destiny is not a sprint. The right relationship is not found in panic. It is found in purpose. It is not built under pressure. It is built with patience.
So ask yourself:
Am I choosing from peace or from panic?
Am I led by purpose or pushed by pressure?
Am I waiting for alignment or rushing for validation?
Because it is better to wait well than to marry wrong.
